Belvoir (Kokhav HaYarden)

Ruins of the Crusader castle Belvoir (Fair View) on a 1640 feet-high hill with a panoramic view of part of  the Jordan Valley,10 km. north of  Beth Shean. The castle was built between 1138 and 1140 on the ruins of a Persian and Byzantine village.

One theory claims this was one of the sites where beacons were kindled to announce the new moon. Another theory claims it to be site of  Kokhava, a town which existed during the Roman-Byzantine Period. The name Kokhav or Kokhava was used to designate a place’s location on ………
