Rehob (Rehov)
Name derives from ancient Rehob. Now a Moshav 4 km. south of Bet She’an, near an ancient synagogue. Tel Rehov to the northeast, is the tel of an ancient settlement identified with Biblical Rehob. Adjacent is a ruin of a Moslem holy shrine called Sheikh er Rihab (apparently a distortion of the name Rehob). Rehob is mentioned in ancient Egyptian texts and in Onomasticon of Eusebius.
Remains: Ruins of buildings and what was probably a fortress. Also remains of a Moslem shrine between the trees. Sherds found from Byzantine and Arab Periods. Remains of synagogue. Near the tel are remains of a 6th or 7th-century synagogue recently uncovered. Its roof was supported buy premarin online and it had a mosaic floor with a Hebrew-Aramaic inscription dealing with the laws of fruits in the sabbatical year.
Also fragments of other Hebrew inscriptions were found.
